Meet Our Student Researcher: Sanskruti Panchal

Meet Sanskruti Panchal, a forward-thinking student researcher at Canadore College who is combining her background in technology with a passion for innovation and strategic project execution. Recently graduated from the Canadore Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management – IT program, Sanskruti brings a dynamic blend of technical expertise, leadership, and creative problem-solving to her role at the Canadore Research Centre.
Originally trained as a software developer, Sanskruti earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology before transitioning into project management. With two years of experience in the tech industry, she developed a strong interest in bridging the gap between technical implementation and high-level planning, an interest that led her to Canadore College to deepen her knowledge of strategic project delivery.
Her passion for innovation was evident early on. While completing her undergraduate studies, Sanskruti participated in both national and international hackathons, where she honed her skills in collaboration, agility, and rapid prototyping. These experiences laid the foundation for her success in Canadore College’s own Innovation Challenge, where her winning idea demonstrated her ability to translate vision into action.
In the Research Centre, Sanskruti plays a vital role in organizing research-related events and connecting teams with the resources they need. Now working as a Student Research Assistant, her work has involved coordinating logistics, facilitating and participating in project deliverables, and supporting access to tools and contacts that drive applied research forward. “Facilitating collaboration is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role,” she shares. “It’s about creating the right environment for great ideas to thrive.”
Her time at the Research Centre has given her a deeper appreciation for the impact of applied research. “I’ve realized how research can go beyond academic study and lead to real-world solutions. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of that process,” Sanskruti explains. She emphasizes that the value of research lies in its ability to inspire innovation, especially when paired with effective project management.
To students considering research opportunities, Sanskruti offers this advice: “Embrace interdisciplinary learning. Be open to perspectives from other fields. That’s where the most exciting ideas come from.” She also highlights the practical skills gained through research, such as critical thinking, risk assessment, and adaptive leadership, which are essential for anyone pursuing a career in project management.
As she looks ahead, Sanskruti is focused on combining her technical background with project leadership to support startups and innovation-focused teams. “My goal is to lead projects that make a real impact, whether through technology, research, or community engagement,” she says.
With her strong foundation in IT, a passion for collaboration, and a growing expertise in project strategy, her journey at Canadore College is a compelling example of how research and project management can come together to shape meaningful, forward-thinkers.
